Moonphase garden task planning
A useful timesaving tool for task scheduling. This proven method really simplifies, streamlines your focus on productive tasks; for a specific month. Usually there's soo many things I'd like to tackle; it becomes a little overwhelming choosing which garden tasks to prioritize.
Time is precious, and I like seeing effective results. Most of my gardening is done between 6am and 7am on some weekdays (watering) and an hour or two after hours around sunset during the week, and weekends totally depend on my energy/laziness levels and social commitments.
Sooo basically we're working with nature's rhythms and cycles. Moonphase gardening method synchronizes seasonal tasks with moon's gravity (pull) and it's effect on water (tides) and the way that plants make use of these gravity changes !! I was a bit skeptical as well, but it really does make a huge difference! Seedlings sprout easier, transplant recovery is much quicker, The method of feed is more effective, e.g foliar spray feeds during the week of leafy waxing cresent moon, and side dressing with compost at roots during dormant 3rd quarter to new moon.
All you really need to remember is the following:
Rhyme it as "Leafy, Fruity, Rooting, Resting"
Leafy = New moon to First quarter moon; Waxing Crescent : Transplant and sow leaf crops.
Fruity = First quarter to Full moon; transplant and sow fruiting crops (or flowers as most fruit develop from flowers)
Rooting = Full moon to Third quarter; Waning Crescent moon; bulbs and root veg.
Resting = Third quarter to New moon; maintenance such as pruning, feeding, deadheading and basic cleanup; in this phase plants go into a mini stasis.
